**ആലപ്പുഴ: **ട്രെയിൻ യാത്രക്കാരിയുടെ സ്വർണമാല മോഷ്ടിച്ച കേസിൽ ജാമ്യത്തിലിറങ്ങി മുങ്ങിയ പ്രതിയെ 22 വർഷത്തിന് ശേഷം റെയിൽവേ പൊലീസ് പിടികൂടി. തിരുവനന്തപുരം കഠിനംകുളം സ്വദേശി എ സഫീറിനെയാണ് കോഴിക്കോട്ടുനിന്ന് ആലപ്പുഴ റെയിൽവേ പൊലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തത്.

2004 ജൂൺ 24-നാണ് കേസിനാസ്പദമായ സംഭവം. ചെന്നൈ എഗ്മോർ എക്സ്പ്രസിൽ യാത്ര ചെയ്തിരുന്ന തൃപ്പൂണിത്തുറ സ്വദേശിനിയുടെ 25 ഗ്രാം (3 പവൻ) തൂക്കമുള്ള സ്വർണമാലയാണ് സഫീറും സംഘവും ചേർന്ന് കവർന്നത്. അമ്പലപ്പുഴയിൽ ഇറങ്ങി രക്ഷപ്പെട്ട മൂന്നംഗ സംഘത്തെ അന്ന് പൊലീസ് അറസ്റ്റ് ചെയ്തിരുന്നെങ്കിലും പിന്നീട് ഇവർക്ക് ജാമ്യം ലഭിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

കോടതിയിൽ വിചാരണ നടപടികൾ പുരോഗമിക്കവേയാണ് മൂന്നാം പ്രതിയായ സഫീർ ഒളിവിൽ പോയത്. വിദേശത്തേക്ക് കടന്ന സഫീർ വർഷങ്ങൾക്ക് ശേഷം നാട്ടിൽ തിരിച്ചെത്തി കോഴിക്കോട് വിവാഹം കഴിച്ച് താമസിച്ച് വരികയായിരുന്നു. രഹസ്യ വിവരത്തിന്റെ അടിസ്ഥാനത്തിൽ ഒരാഴ്ചയായി റെയിൽവേ പൊലീസിന്റെ നിരീക്ഷണത്തിലായിരുന്ന പ്രതിയെ കോഴിക്കോട്ടു നിന്നാണ് കസ്റ്റഡിയിലെടുത്തത്. റെയിൽവേ എസ്എച്ച്ഒ കെ ബി ജോയ് കുമാറിന്റെ നേതൃത്വത്തിലുള്ള സംഘമാണ് പ്രതിയെ പിടികൂടിയത്.

Incident was on June 24, 2004 in Chennai Egmore Express where 25 gram (3 sovereign) gold chain of woman from Tripunithura was robbed by Safeer and gang. Three-member gang who got down at Ambalappuzha was arrested then but got bail. While trial was progressing, third accused Safeer absconded, went abroad, later returned, married and settled in Kozhikode. Based on secret information and one week surveillance, police team led by Railway SHO KB Joy Kumar took him into custody from Kozhikode.
