കോതമംഗലം (എറണാകുളം): ടയറിന് കീഴെ വെച്ച തടസ്സം നീക്കുന്നതിനിടെ പിന്നോട്ടു നീങ്ങിയ ജീപ്പിനടിയിൽപ്പെട്ട് പ്രവാസി മലയാളി മരിച്ചു. ഊന്നുകൽ കതിരുവേൽതണ്ട് കാരിമറ്റംവീട്ടിൽ ഹരിപ്രസാദിന്റെ മകൻ എച്ച്. അരുൺ ആണ് മരിച്ചത്.

സൗദി അറേബ്യയിൽ ജോലി ചെയ്യുന്ന അരുണും ഭാര്യയും രണ്ടാഴ്ച മുൻപാണ് അവധിക്ക് നാട്ടിലെത്തിയത്. വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച രാത്രി 7.30 ഓടെയാണ് സംഭവം. ഇടവഴിയിൽനിന്ന് വീട്ടിലേക്ക് കയറുന്ന ഗേറ്റിന്റെ ഭാഗത്ത് കയറ്റത്തിലാണ് ജീപ്പ് നിർത്തിയിട്ടിരുന്നത്.

രാത്രി ഭക്ഷണം വാങ്ങാനായി ജീപ്പെടുക്കാനെത്തിയ അരുൺ ടയറിനടിയിലെ തടസ്സം നീക്കുന്നതിനിടെ ജീപ്പ് പിന്നോട്ട് നീങ്ങിയതിനെ തുടർന്ന് അടിയിൽപ്പെട്ടതാണെന്ന് പോലീസ് പറഞ്ഞു.

റോഡിന്റെ എതിർവശത്തെ മതിലിൽ ഇടിച്ചാണ് ജീപ്പ് നിന്നത്. അതുവഴി വന്ന വാഹനയാത്രികൻ ജീപ്പ് റോഡിന് കുറുകെ തടസ്സമായി കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ട് വീട്ടിൽ ചെന്ന് അന്വേഷിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

വീട്ടുകാർ വന്ന് നോക്കുമ്പോഴാണ് അരുൺ വാഹനത്തിനടിയിൽ ഞെരുങ്ങിയമർന്ന് കിടക്കുന്നത് കണ്ടത്. ഉടൻ ആശുപത്രിയിൽ എത്തിച്ചെങ്കിലും മരണം സ്ഥിരീകരിച്ചു.
