കോട്ടയം: പാലാ നഗരസഭാ ചെയര്‍പേഴ്‌സണ്‍ തെരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഇന്ന്. സ്വതന്ത്ര കൗണ്‍സിലറായ മായാ രാഹുല്‍ എല്‍ഡിഎഫ് പിന്തുണയോടെയും യുഡിഎഫില്‍ നിന്ന് റിയ ചീരാന്‍കുഴിയും മത്സരിക്കും.

വിമത കൗണ്‍സിലര്‍മാരുടെ പിന്തുണയുള്ളതിനാല്‍ വിജയപ്രതീക്ഷയിലാണ് മായാ രാഹുല്‍. പാർട്ടി വിട്ട കൗണ്‍സിലര്‍മാര്‍ തിരികെ വരുമെന്നാണ് യുഡിഎഫിന്റെ പ്രതീക്ഷ. രാവിലെ 11 മണിക്കാണ് വോട്ടെടുപ്പ് നടക്കുന്നത്.

അഞ്ച് യുഡിഎഫ് കൗണ്‍സിലര്‍മാര്‍ അവിശ്വാസത്തെ പിന്തുണച്ചതോടെയാണ് അവിശ്വാസം പാസായത്.വിപ്പ് ലംഘിച്ച് യോഗത്തിനെത്തിയ കോണ്‍ഗ്രസ് കൗണ്‍സിലര്‍മാരും മായാ രാഹുലും എല്‍ഡിഎഫ് അവിശ്വാസത്തെ പിന്തുണക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

പാലാ നഗരസഭയില്‍ എല്‍ഡിഎഫിനും യുഡിഎഫിനും കേവലഭൂരിപക്ഷം ഇല്ലാതെ വന്നതോടെ സ്വതന്ത്രസ്ഥാനാര്‍ത്ഥികളായി മത്സരിച്ച ബിനു പുളിക്കകണ്ടവും മകള്‍ ദിയാ ബിനു പുളിക്കകണ്ടവും ബിനുവിന്റെ സഹോദരന്‍ ബിജു പുളിക്കകണ്ടവും യുഡിഎഫിന് പിന്തുണ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.

ആദ്യ ടേമില്‍ ചേയര്‍പേഴ്‌സണ്‍ സ്ഥാനം ദിയയ്ക്ക് നല്‍കുകയായിരുന്നു. എന്നാൽ ആറ് മാസം മാത്രമായിരുന്നു ഈ ഭരണത്തിന് ആയുസ്.**
