തിരുവനന്തപുരം: കേരളത്തിലെ പുതിയ മുഖ്യ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഓഫീസറായി ഡോ. സജിത്ത് ബാബുവിനെ നിയമിച്ചു. സംസ്ഥാന സര്‍ക്കാറിന്റെ നിര്‍ദേശത്തിന് കേന്ദ്ര തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കമ്മീഷൻ അംഗീകാരം നല്‍കിയതോടെയാണ് നിയമനം ഔദ്യോഗികമായത്.

ഇതുസംബന്ധിച്ച ഉത്തരവ് കേന്ദ്ര തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് കമ്മീഷൻ പുറത്തിറക്കി. 2012 ബാച്ച് ഐഎസ് ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥനാണ് ഡോ. സജിത്ത് ബാബു. ഉന്നത വിദ്യാഭ്യാസ വകുപ്പ്, ജില്ലാ കളക്ടർ തുടങ്ങി വിവിധ ഭരണപരമായ തസ്തികകളിൽ അദ്ദേഹം മുൻപ് സേവനമനുഷ്ഠിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ട്.

മുൻ മുഖ്യ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഓഫീസറായിരുന്ന രത്തൻ യു ഖേൽക്കർ മുഖ്യമന്ത്രിയുടെ സെക്രട്ടറിയായി ചുമതലയേറ്റതോടെ വന്ന ഒഴിവിലേക്കാണ് ഡോ സജിത്ത് ബാബുവിനെ നിയമിച്ചത്. കഴിഞ്ഞ രണ്ടു മാസമായി സംസ്ഥാനത്ത് മുഖ്യ തിരഞ്ഞെടുപ്പ് ഓഫീസറുടെ പദവി ഒഴിവുകിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
